Random Silliness!

Allie accidentally sat on the corner of a cardboard box and it was enough to produce tears.  Whenever she hurts something she usually asks for you to kiss it – even if she bites her tongue.  So you can only imagine how this one went!  Watch the video to see what happened and also to hear a bonus rendition of the Dora the Explorer theme song.

101 in 1001: Make Fudge–Task Complete

Over the holidays I seized the opportunity to cross another task off of my 101 list – make fudge.  With the help of pinterest, I came across a delicious recipe and I was ready to make cookies and cream fudge.  I also had a willing volunteer to crush the cookies.  (Betcha can’t guess who that was!)  While I was making the recipe, I realized that I didn’t have enough white chocolate chips, so I used some semi-sweet chocolate chips instead.  The fudge turned out to be one of my husbands favorite treats of the season!

Paying the Bills!

While I was sending out some bills, I decided to let Allie “send” some out too!

Quick Response Holiday Lights 2011

After a delicious dinner at the Public House in Malta, we braved the crowds at the Quick Response Holiday Lights.  We arrived on Friday evening at around 5:45 and although we had no trouble getting on the shuttle bus, the line for the train was already unbelievably long!  So my mother and I waited in the marginally smaller line for Santa while Kevin and my Dad took Allie around to see the characters and lights.  We stood in line for Santa for about 15 or 20 minutes which was a bit insane considering that Allie got to sit with him for all of 2 minutes, but after that encounter she talked about Santa non-stop for the next 3 weeks.

“Me Cook Too!”

This holiday season, Allison was all about “cooking”.  Really it was baking because I can’t cook to save my life.  We made snowman cut-outs, mint chocolate chunk cookies, hershey hug blossoms, spritz cookies, anisette cookies (with Poppy Razzano), and cookies and cream fudge.  We made way more than anybody ate, but we had such a good time doing it!

101 in 1001: Staycation at the Desmond–Task Complete

For our 4 year anniversary I took the initiative to book an executive suite at the Desmond in Colonie.  We stayed at the Desmond on our wedding night, so I thought it would be the perfect place to spend an anniversary.  We dropped Allie off with her grandparents and then checked into our room.  It was amazing!  It had two rooms, two bathrooms, two televisions, a minibar, a king-sized canopy bed, and my favorite feature – peace & quiet!  Maybe a bit much, but what can I say… it was a special occasion!  I definitely considered ordering room service and lounging in our room the rest of the night, but we headed out to Delmonico’s for dinner.  We each had a great meal and then ordered 2 cannolis (our favorite!) to go.  Because I was pregnant, we stopped at the grocery store for some sparkling grape juice and headed back to the room.  Then we hopped in our huge, comfortable bed to watch Bridesmaids and enjoy our cannolis with sparkling grape juice.  We were both asleep by 10:30 and didn’t get up until 8 the next day!  What a treat!  To top off our staycation we went to the cinemas to watch an afternoon movie.  We saw Moneyball and while Kevin loved it, I thought it was just ok.  I guess you have to be more of a baseball fan.  By the time the movie finished, we were both relaxed and re-energized and ready to see our crazy lil toddler again!  I think our staycation might have to happen for every anniversary!

Allie and Sampson

When Aunt Tracy brought over her new puppy, Sampson, for Allie’s birthday, it was the perfect opportunity to get some cute photos!
