12.5 months – What is Allison doing?

Allie has been walking for 2.5 months, so now she runs!  She likes when people chase her.  Although last week she got so excited she stumbled and got a fat lip, so we’ve cut back on that game a bit.

She’s very talkative and sometimes it seems like she’s telling you a joke because she’ll say something and then laugh.  It’s very cute.

She loves to dance!  She shakes her hips, spins, claps, and bounces.

She really likes playing with her puppets and she’ll often bring one over to you.  She likes bringing her puppets blocks or books to read and she’ll give them hugs and kisses.

She knows “down dog” and does it on command.

She says “hi”, “mama” and “dad”.  She waves hello and goodbye and blows kisses.

She knows where her nose, ears, and feet are.

She still uses all her old sign language.  She most frequently uses the sign for help.

She’s a lover of all things fruit.  Cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, honeydew melon, mandarin oranges, apples, bananas, pears, peaches, kiwi…

Her first molars are coming through

She uses hand motions for itsy bitsy spider, wheels on the bus, and patty cake.

She is above all else, an explorer!  She is always finding new things to get into – including the dogs water bowl – and loves getting out to see new places and things.

First snow of the season!

Yesterday we had some wintery weather.  Snow, hail, and freezing rain.  I loved seeing the big fluffy pieces of snow falling and Allie enjoyed the new weather too.  I captured Allie’s first real experience with snow and in the meantime I caught her first real experience with ice!

Happy Halloween!

image_3269911_0

It’s Allie’s first Halloween and she dressed up as a kitty this year.  I tried to teach her how to meow, but it just wasn’t clicking. :)  I made this card using scrapblog and I think it turned out pretty cute!  It’s not as easy as just importing your picture into a template, but I like the satisfaction of creating my own designs.

Yesterday, we all went to Halloween party at Allie’s friend, Brody’s, house. Allie walked all around their house in her costume about 30 times!  Everyone now and then she would stop to talk to someone, but she was a girl on a mission that day.  Click on the photo below to view a gallery of photos from the day.

In a few hours, we’ll be heading out to trick-or-treat at a some neighbors houses.  A new blog post will be up soon with some pictures from today and also daily pics from the month of October.  Two months to go and we’ll have a full year of Allie!  :)

Birthday planning…

It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was waddling around at 197 pounds waiting for Allie to arrive and now she’s waddling around me at a solid 25+ pounds.  Her birthday is only 1 and half months away and I’ve been starting the planning process.  The theme for her birthday is “Allison’s One-derland”.  I thought it was clever.

In my quest to be super-mom, I’ve been making most of the decor, her birthday outfit, and the food.  Apparently, I haven’t developed my super powers yet, because there have a been a few disasters.  A few weeks ago, I made an attempt at making some cupcakes and they quickly got dubbed “the birthday butt-cakes” because they tasted so bad.  Feeling the need to redeem myself, I made a new batch with a new recipe and they are definitely winners.  Sour cream and vanilla instant pudding made a remarkable difference! I’ve also been wrapped up in yards and yards of tulle making a tutu which may or may not swallow her alive on her actual birthday.  Then I made her a onesie with an appliqué “1” on it.  It looks really cute, but I’m afraid she may actually grow out of it by the time her birthday rolls around.  Poor thing may be wearing an enormous tutu and have a giant wedgie. Who needs comfort when you look adorable, right?

I’ll conclude this post with a video that Kevin and I both agree is creepy, but is featured in one episode of Allie’s favorite show (Jack’s Big Music Show).  Enjoy!

10 months old already? And walking?!

Allie started taking a couple shuffles a few days ago, but last night she really started walking!

At 10 months old, her sign language repertoire includes: eat, drink, more, all done, bed, ball, hi, and bye bye.  She’s also developing signs for help, dog, and cracker.  She kisses and high-fives upon request and also give “hugs” when you ask, “can I have an awww?”  She ate some macaroni and cheese the other night, but is still hot and cold on “real” food.  She prefers her baby food!  This week I also started weaning her off the bottle.  She drinks milk out of a sippy cup in the afternoon.  So far it’s not going so well, but I’m not giving in!  If she can drink juice in a cup, then she can drink milk out of a cup too.

First Day of Fall!

Fall is my favorite season.  I love the cool weather, pumpkins, mums, cider doughnuts, sweatshirts, fall leaves… everything!  Kevin and I took Allie apple picking yesterday at Bowmans Orchard.  She seemed to love being the in fresh air and when Kevin gave her an apple she chomped right into it!  She loved the Jonamac apple so much she didn’t want to let it go.  We were almost the only ones in the orchard.  It was the perfect opportunity to take pictures.  Unfortunately, we forgot the memory card for the camera. Oops!  I guess we’ll have to go back.

On a side note… enjoy this picture that Kevin created the other day.  Thank god there is really only of her! haha!

Learning sign language

Allison is learning new things everyday.  These videos show her learning signs for “more” and “drink”.  She is also learning signs for “eat”, “all done”, and “help”.

Eye update

Allie went back to Dr. Simon last week.  While he still observed her eye deviating, he said it was to a lesser degree than when she was evaluated in July.  Her vision was not measured, so it is unknown if that has improved.  We were instructed to continue putting homatropine drops in her left eye twice a week.  We are due back in his office at the end of December.

How Big is Allison!? Sooooo Big!

Each day that goes by, Allie surprises us with a new talent it seems. Whether it is clapping hands, playing peek-a-boo, dancing, singing, standing… each accomplishment is enhanced so much watching them through this father’s eyes. Just today I came home from work and did our usual hello’s including hugs, dancing, squealing and so on. While holding her I asked “Can Daddy have a kiss?”, at which she leaned in and gave me the biggest kiss her little mouth could give. It’s moments like that which clean the messy slate any day in the office can create. Just what the doctor ordered :)

So I’ve been slacking a bit in regards to posting photos and videos of our little one. We have been taking them, lots and lots of them, just not taking the time to post any… so here we go! Click HERE to view the photos posted from August 2010, and check out the video below.
